Don’t follow culture, follow Christ

Society can place a lot of pressure on us.
It loves to tell us what we should and shouldn’t do, it loves to tell us what’s acceptable and what’s not.
But, it’s not society that leads us, it’s not society that gives us truth, it’s our Savior.

What’s popular, what’s common, what “everyone” is doing, doesn’t matter.
What’s more important than “fitting in”, is following Christ.

“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” -Galatians 1:10, ESV

The world will tell you to follow its ways.
The world will tell you what it’s doing is right.
But, the only thing that’s right, is what God’s Word says, and what God guides you to do.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” -Romans 12:2, ESV

So, I encourage you…
Have courage to step away from the direction of the crowd, and into the current of Christ.

Dare to do things differently!
Dare to live differently!
Dare to be an example.

People may not understand decisions you make, and that’s ok.
Your path with God, is your path.
It’s what God wants, for you.
It’s personal.
It’s unique.

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” -Proverbs 16:9, ESV

So, what does it matter what others are doing?
When you’re walking with God, if people are happy with your decisions, great, if they’re unhappy with your decisions, so be it.

Better to be walking with God than walking to the tune of other peoples opinions.
If God is leading you, you’re on the right track.
You’re walking in God’s plan for you life.
You’re walking in your purpose.

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
-Jeremiah 29:11, NIV

Trust in Him.
Trust in His direction.
Trust in His ways.

Be bold.
Be brave.
Be obedient.
Be God-led.

And the crowd will go where it goes.
And you’ll go where God wants you to go.
And you’ll be blessed.

-Steinar
