Gossip

There are some things that aren’t explicitly stated in the Bible, things that are up for interpretation.
But gossip, it’s not one of them.

The Bible doesn’t just mention gossip once, it speaks of it over, and over again.

It hits it one way…
“A gossip goes around telling secrets, so don’t hang around with chatterers.” (Proverbs 20:19, NLT)

And another way…
“Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down.” (Proverbs 26:20, NIV)

And another way…
“A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” (Proverbs 11:13, NIV)

And other ways.

So, while it may be tempting at times, do your best to avoid it.

If a conversation starts going in that direction, don’t indulge it, steer it in a different direction.

You’ll be better off for it.
