When things don’t make sense

Life doesn’t always add up.
Sometimes it subtracts when you expect it to multiply.

A situation you’re faced with.
You didn’t ask for.
You don’t want.

Why this?
Why now?
Why me?

You have questions.
You want answers.

You may feel…
Frustrated.

You may be…
Confused.

Why?

Why?
Why?

You wonder.
You pray.

But you’re dealing with it.
It’s a reality.

I wish we were free of such situations

But while we’re in flesh…
We’ll face things.

It’s a reality of a world…
That’s fallen.

But here’s what I know…
You don’t have to see the whole staircase to take the next step.

You don’t have to understand, everything…
To trust the One who understands, everything.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
-Isaiah 55:8-9, NLT

That’s not God being mysterious.
That’s God being God.

He sees the masterpiece.
We see a brushstroke.

And sometimes that brushstroke…
Looks dark.

Sometimes it looks…
Messy.

Sometimes it looks…
Wrong.

But every masterpiece has dark colors.
Every masterpiece has what looks unclear…
Until you step back.

Until you see the whole picture.

Joseph didn’t understand why his brothers sold him into slavery.
He didn’t understand the prison time…
The false accusations.

It didn’t make sense.

But years later…
It all made sense.

It wasn’t God’s plan to serve Joseph pain.
But God takes ugly that results from a broken world…
He takes it and makes it beautiful.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”
-Genesis 50:20, NLT

He turns what was meant to harm…
Into what propels.

I don’t know what your situation is.
I don’t know what you’re facing.

It might be financial, physical, or mental.
I don’t know.

But, I do know this verse…
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
-Romans 8:28, NLT

That isn’t a blanket promise to all people.
That’s a promise to Christians.

That’s a promise to those who love God.
That’s a promise to you.

You’re called according to His purpose!
You’re going to have everything work together for your benefit.

That truth shines brighter than any situation.
Hold on to that truth.

That truth will take you through your hurdles.
That truth will carry you.

God is close to you.
God is working.

We don’t like the waiting.
We can’t change it.

What we can do, is do the best we can do…
With what’s in front of us.

We have to release the rest.
We have to trust.

That when God says He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever…
That He is.

Because He is.

He doesn’t enjoy your suffering.
He’s suffering with you.
(Psalm 34:18)

But He’s going to carry you.
(Isaiah 46:4)

So, keep going!

You’re going to look back…
And see God.

You’re going to see His hand…
At every twist and turn.

You’re going to say…
It’s only possible…
Because of God.

You’re going to point to Him…
It’s going to glorify Him.

Keep going!
