Anxiety’s antidote

Anxiety loves to tell you stories.
Stories about what might happen.
Stories about tomorrow.

It whispers worst-case scenarios.
It paints pictures of problems…
That don’t even exist.

But here’s what anxiety doesn’t want you to know.
It’s allergic to the present moment.
It can’t survive in the now.

It only lives in the “what if’s” of tomorrow.
It only thrives in the uncertainty of next week.
It only grows in the unknowns of next year.

But God wants you to live in today.
He wants your mind in today.

He says don’t worry about tomorrow.
Tomorrow will worry about itself.
(Matthew 6:34)

That’s not just advice.
That’s an antidote.

When anxiety tries to drag you into future fears…
Come back to right now.

Right now…
Are you breathing?
Yes.

Right now…
Are you provided for?
Yes.

Right now…
Is God with you?
Yes.

That’s the truth of this moment.
That’s where peace lives.

Anxiety wants you time-traveling.
God wants you present.

Anxiety wants you imagining disasters.
God wants you trusting.

The world will tell you that anxiety is normal.
That it’s just part of life.

But that’s not God’s design for you.
That’s not His desire for you.

He offers something different.
He offers peace that doesn’t make sense.
(Philippians 4:7)

Peace that guards…
Your heart.

Peace that protects…
Your mind.

But here’s the thing about that peace…
It requires a trade.

You give Him your worries.
He gives you His peace.
(1 Peter 5:7)

You can’t hold both.
You choose.

And that choice…
It’s not a one time thing.
It’s a practice.

It’s an opportunity.

It’s an opportunity…
To lift those thoughts to God.
To trust God.

Because anxiety will try to return.
It will try to steal peace.

It’s a weapon of the devil.
It’s destructive.

It wants you defeated.
It wants you hurt.

But your sword is stronger.
(Hebrews 4:12)

Use it.

“God, this thought is trying to steal my peace.”
“I lift it, and leave it with you.”

“You’re in complete control.”
“I trust you.”

“You’ve been there for me time, and time again.”
“You’re dependable.”

That’s strength.
That’s release.

God is faithful.
He’ll keep providing.
He’ll keep protecting.
He’ll keep guiding.

Whatever happens in the world…
It doesn’t dictate your peace.

Whatever you see online, on Instagram…
It doesn’t dictate your peace.

You’re a child of God.
You’re royalty.

You don’t need to fear.
You can trust.

You have an anchor…
In Christ.

So when anxiety tries to strike…
Shift your focus from what’s unknown…
From what you can’t control…
To Who knows all.

That’s the antidote.
That’s the answer.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
