Pride

The Bible warns about it.
It tells us that it leads to destruction.
(Proverbs 16:18)

The interesting thing about it…
It’s not a specific choice.

No one says…
“I want to be more prideful.”
“I need more pride.”

Yet, pride is prevalent.
Why?

Because pride disguises itself.
It’s deceptive.

It looks like strength.
It looks wise.

But it’s destructive.
It’s poison.

It wants you…
Self-centered.

It whispers…
You don’t need God.

It’s what turned Lucifer from an angel…
Into the enemy of God.
(Isaiah 14:12-15)

It’s how sin entered the world…
When Adam and Eve wanted to be like God.
(Genesis 3:5-6)

It’s what keeps people from repenting…
From surrendering to God.

But just because you’re a Christian…
Doesn’t make you immune to it.

The devil will do his best to bait you with it…
To get your eyes off God and on yourself.

If you do something good…
He wants you to praise yourself for it.
He wants you to glorify you.

But who gave you your abilities?
Who made you, you?

It’s God.

So, let’s not let the devil twist our minds into thinking…
“It’s because of me.”

No.

It’s because of God.

We’re the clay.
He’s the potter.
(Isaiah 64:8)

He deserves the praise.
Let’s praise Him.
