Keys to a calm mind

Our world is full of people with anxiety.

People feel overwhelmed.
People feel out of control.
And the more we try to feel in control, the more anxiety is felt.

The Bible says “be anxious for nothing…”
(Philippians 4:6-7)

That’s hard.
We’re all human.
We want to control things, but life puts us all in situations we can’t control, and situations that we feel overwhelmed in.

When that happens we can try to depend on our own strength…
Or we can lean on God, and depend on His strength.

When you feel anxiety, breathe deeply (our body is beautifully made, and are body forces ourself to become more calm when we breathe deeply), and cling to Philippians 4:6-7…
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Cling to God’s direction to go to Him in prayer, and supplication (being earnest/sincere), and in thankfulness, express yourself to Him, as the verses above direct us.

“Lord, I’m feeling overwhelmed. I don’t see how this situation is going to work itself out, but thank you that you’re in control of all. Thank you that I can depend on you to get me through this situation. I pray that you will pour your wisdom on me to guide me through this situation. I pray you will give me the strength I need. I thank you that I can commit this situation to you Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.”

That’s living Philippians 4:6-7.
That’s doing our best to follow God’s guidance when anxiety is felt.
That’s taking God’s Word, and putting it to work.

When we do our part, let us trust that God will do His part.

And as this verse tells us, expect… “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Expect peace to fill you through prayer and praise!
Expect your heart and mind to be guarded from anxiety.
Expect any feelings of anxiety to leave you, in Jesus name!

You’re loved!
